I love a variety of book genres. I love historical, fiction or non-fiction. Some romance, mostly by Christian authors. I love biographies. I love informative books on politics, civics and history.
The Star and the Shamrock by Jean Grainger - Very good,. A fiction story about the time of the Holocaust.
Alicia: My Story by Alicia Appleman-Jurman. A personal story of Alicia who survived the Nazi's and their quest to exterminate all Jewish people in their country. Alicia tells her story of a girl and teen trying to survive during that time. So well written. I rate this one a 10!
Rosemary: The Hidden Kennedy Daughter. by Katie Clifford Larson This is a truly heartbreaking story of what was done to the Kennedy daughter and the horrible lobotomy that was performed on her. I rate this one an 8 or 9.
Suitcases - by Ann Whitt Hall - A heartbreaking story of 3 little girls being thrust into the foster care system in the 1930's. Thank goodness for a wonderful family that stepped in and made them part of their family. A wonderful read. A definite 10! (note, it may be hard to find, it's out of print).
The Prize Winner of Derinace, Ohio - by Terry Ryan - This is book so good. WAY better than the movie they made about it. The movie was lame. This book is about a lifetime of an amazing lady that loved her family and worked so hard to give her children a good life. She was an amzing, creative and couragious women. A definite thumbs up!
Eighty Acres - Elegy for a Family Farm - by Ronald Jager - He writes of his growing up years on his family farm. As the New York Times says "it's a memoir that is full of life..and with a perspectiv of love". Thumbs up for sure!
